Our Mission
Is to bridge the gap between today’s shop floors and tomorrow’s digital industry — using the smartest manufacturing tool in this era: LASERTECHNOLOGY
We call it: Laser Advanced Surface Treatment (LAST)
Our Focus
Is to build a Platform for the Next Era of Industrial Asset Lifecycle Management.
We call it: Autonomous Repair Technology (ART)
Our Story
Laser Lab was founded in 2021 with the clear ambition of closing the gap between today’s workshops and the industrial manufacturing of the future through the targeted use of laser technology as a connective, digitizable, and automatable tool.
The roots of this ambition, however, reach much further back. Laser Lab emerged from BR TEC Bühler AG, a Swiss engineering and industrial company with over 100 years of history, founded in 1904. This industrial heritage shapes the DNA of Laser Lab to this day: long-term customer relationships, high technical integrity, a sense of responsibility toward industrial applications, and the readiness to deploy new key technologies productively at an early stage.
Laser Lab does not view itself as a classic startup, but rather as the consistent evolution of an industrial lineage: from mechanical precision to modern surface technologies and ultimately to Autonomous Repair Technology (ART). The focus on repair, lifecycle optimization, and workshop-based applications is no coincidence, but the result of decades of experience with real-world production and service processes.
Who is working on ART
The Core Team

Adrian Koop (Chief Path Creator)
Adrian Koop is the founder and CEO of Laser Lab AG and is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, entrepreneurial development, and market positioning. His strength lies in translating complex technologies into scalable, economically resilient business cases.
Prior to founding Laser Lab, Adrian Koop spent over eight years in executive roles at BR TEC Bühler AG – most recently as Managing Director with overall responsibility for operations, finance, HR, and strategy. This experience shapes Laser Lab’s disciplined, realistic approach to this day.
His professional background combines a solid industrial education (polymechanic) with a BSc in Business Engineering and advanced training in SME financing, controlling, and HR. This is further complemented by his role as a trainer at the Personal Breakthrough Academy, which strengthens his ability to build high-performance teams and lead organizational transformation.
In the Strategy & Execution Plan, Adrian Koop is the central anchor of the Strategic Core: focus, capital efficiency, and disciplined scaling converge under his leadership.

Benjamin Messmer (Harmonious Flow Conductor)
As COO, Benjamin Messmer is responsible for operational execution, project management, and the expansion of technological and organizational structures. He combines deep technical expertise in automation, robotics, and laser technology with project and budget responsibility in industrial environments.
His career includes leadership roles in automation at Brütsch Technology, Huba Control, Constellium, and GF Casting Solutions. These positions have shaped his expertise particularly in the implementation of complex automation projects, risk management, and industry-oriented series and special-purpose manufacturing.
In the context of the ART-strategy, Benjamin Messmer is the central figure for standardization, implementation quality, and the reproducibility of ART systems.

Joël Kaspar (Laser Process Prodigy)
Joël Kaspar complements the core team with current scientific excellence and practical application expertise. As a Laser Engineer at Laser Lab, he focuses on the development, optimization, and validation of automated laser processes (e.g., Directed Energy Deposition, laser hardening).
Simultaneously, he is pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, focusing on simulation and modeling. This link between research and industrial implementation strengthens the technological substance of ART and reduces dependency on external development.

Erhard Rüttimann (Lead Game Changer)
As Chairman, Erhard Rüttimann brings over three decades of international leadership, sales, and scaling experience. His career includes leadership roles at global technology companies (e.g., EMC, Sun Microsystems) as well as the founding and transformation of his own enterprises.
In addition to his role at Laser Lab, he is the founder of the Personal Breakthrough Academy and Chairman & CEO of Communication Partners AG. He possesses extensive board experience, turnaround expertise, and international market knowledge.
Erhard Rüttimann strengthens Laser Lab particularly in the areas of:
- Strategic positioning,
- International expansion,
- Governance and decision-making discipline.
